Centers

We’ll start with the centers because that is going to determine how you fill out the rest of your fantasy hockey lineup. Considering that there aren’t that many options, I highly recommend going with the teammate strategy. Pick two centers and pick their teammates.

There are several high-end options. Henrik Sedin of the Vancouver Canucks is as steady and reliable as any center in the league. He averages 3.1 fantasy hockey points per game and costs $6,300. Keep in mind that the Canucks are facing a struggling Sabres team and most likely a backup goaltender. Patrice Bergeron is another elite option. He averages 4.3 fantasy points per game and costs $7,400. You could also go with David Krejci of the Bruins.

Nathan MacKinnon of the Colorado Avalanche has been on fire as of late. He averages four fantasy hockey points per game and costs $7,700. The Avalanche are also facing a backup goalie in Kuemper. Ryan O’Reilly is always worth considering. He averages 3.1 fantasy points per game and costs $5,500.

Mikko Koivu of the Wild is an underrated center worth considering. He averages 2.7 fantasy points per game and costs $5,500.

DAILY PICK: Remember how I told you to save money on your defensemen? This is why. Bergeron and Sedin are both worth starting and you’ll have two elite centers. You can’t go wrong with MacKinnon. I’d stay away from Koivu and O’Reilly. Whatever you do, it will be quite beneficial if you go with teammates. If you want to go all the way with the teammate thing, go with Krejci and pair him with Loui Eriksson (a right wing). You’ll have money left over to go grab a better defenseman should you choose that option.
