MLB Rumors: Cliff Lee drawing interest from several clubs
After recovering from an elbow injury, Cliff Lee is ready to pitch again and he has suitors after him.
Cliff Lee is about to be pitching in Major League Baseball again. Lee, who will 37 years old when the season begins next season, hasn’t pitched since the beginning of the 2014 season, when he suffered an elbow injury that hasn’t allowed him to pitch for almost two years.
Rather than have surgery on the elbow, Lee chose the option of resting his elbow and now he appears to be ready to toe the rubber once again. Before Lee left baseball to rest his elbow, he was still one of the more talented pitchers in the game.
Despite their being obvious questions about his elbow, and whether or not rest has healed it fully, there are several teams interested in acquiring the services of Lee, in hopes of him regaining his form on the mound.
If Lee is drawing interest from half the league, then his elbow must be a lot better off after two years of inactivity and rest. That means there’s a good chance that he is going to have a new home soon, and with the money that is being thrown at pitchers, he might have a nice deal from somewhere.
Still, it’s a risky move for whatever team signs him, as there’s no guarantee that going the route of not having surgery on his elbow will work out. Now there also is the possibility that his elbow is fine, and it probably is, otherwise 15 teams probably wouldn’t have interest in him.
Of all the free agent pitchers available in free agency, Lee is certainly one of the most intriguing options available for teams to sign.
