New England Patriots fan pays off bet to Eagles’ Connor Barwin by giving him a beer
One Patriots fan had to pay up and give Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin a beer after the Eagles beat New England.
There were a lot of people losing money on the New England Patriots on Sunday. On what looked like a sure lock to bet on, the Philadelphia Eagles put together their best performance of the season, as they went on the road and defeated the Patriots much to the shock of everyone.
While the Patriots were really banged up with injuries, the team still was seen as a heavy favorite at home against an Eagles team that many had thought quit on the season. Well the Eagles had no quit on them and put themselves back in the NFC East race with their surprise victory.
Not only did the Eagles pick up a win, but their linebacker, Connor Barwin, cashed in on a bet after the Eagles knocked off the Patriots. Barwin after the game, received a beer from some Patriots fans while walking off the field.
Barwin was on the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show, and explained why he grabbed a beer from Patriots fans after the game. Barwin explained that after fans were heckling him before the game, he told them to bring him a beer after the Eagles win the game, which can be heard via Crossing Board.
"“I go out to the field and warm up by myself early and some Patriots fans, that these stadiums now have access where they’re right up on the field, and they were kind of messing with me. Talking about how I wasn’t going to get any sacks, we weren’t going to win, blah, blah, blah. And I just said make sure you have a beer ready for me after we win. And sure enough, we won and they had a Bud Light ready.”"
This absolutely has to be one of the most awesome fan/player bets of all time. While most people wouldn’t have paid up after a tough loss and left, give credit to the Patriots’ fans for following through and giving Barwin the beer that he requested.
Hecklers are a major part of sports. Good hecklers like the fans that paid off their bet with Barwin, are the types of hecklers that fans should try to mimic.
