Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine has a sick home workout regiment.

The Oklahoma Sooners are playoff bound this season and it’s thank to the hard work of their players on the field. One of those players that steps up and carries the load for the Sooners each week is running back Samaje Perine. Perine has constantly been a go-to-guy for the Sooners in the backfield this season and with his success on the ground behind the talented quarterback Baker Mayfield, Perine has positioned himself consistently as one of the best running backs in college football.

One of the big reasons that he is one of the better running backs in college football is because of his hard work and training. Not only is he a monster in practice, the weight room and the field, Perine also is a monster at home with his home workouts.

According to The Oklahoman, Perine has a monster home workout, which involves a whole lot of push ups and a whole lot of sit ups.

"Perine’s home in Pflugerville, Texas, isn’t close to any gyms, so he asked assistant Oklahoma strength coach Mahala Wiggins for a good home workout. Wiggins suggested getting a deck of cards, shuffling them, drawing them one at a time and doing the number of push-ups that appear on the card.Aces and Jokers are 20. Kings, Queens and Jacks are 10.So Perine goes through the entire deck each morning, then reshuffles and does the same thing with sit-ups.Then does the same thing at night. That’s 792 push-ups and 792 sit-ups a day — every day — when Perine goes home."

Just imagine that for a second. When he’s at home, there isn’t a gym near, yet he is able to keep up his tremendous physique through sheer will and dedication to be the best. It’s that type of work ethic that has turned Perine into the type of hard worker that he is.

It’s that type of mentality that has allowed Oklahoma to reap the benefits of having a talented running back in their backfield, and is the reason that many feel that they could be the team to beat in the College Football Playoff. While all eyes are on Mayfield, and rightfully so, Perine is a player that can’t go unnoticed for his incredible efforts.

Just imagine doing all that work to stay in shape. That’s what it takes to be a champion, and he might just be called one very soon.
