The Toronto Raptors are going to be without one of their top players for a while.

The addition of DeMarre Carroll to the Toronto Raptors’ roster has been one of the moves from this off-season that has paid off thus far. One of the big things that Carroll brings to the Raptors is an ability to shoot from three and bring tough, gritty defense while taking on the other team’s best player every night.

The Raptors are currently seventh in the Eastern Conference, which is a little down the standings from where they were at the end of last year, but compared to other teams, they have had a fairly tough schedule to date. They’ve already had to run into the Warriors’ buzzsaw twice and had a big Western Conference road trip.

Things are likely to even out and the Raptors will probably work their way back up the standings in the conference. While they are working their way back up, they will have to be without Carroll for a while. The team announced that Carroll will be out indefinitely with a bruised right knee.

Knee issues are nothing to mess with, even bruises. The Raptors have big picture in mind and are thinking long term if they are going to be without Carroll for a while. By the time he gets back, which considering the history of knee bruises, shouldn’t be that long, the Raptors will probably still be playing good, competitive basketball.

Adding Carroll back will be a huge addition for the Raptors and they will regain a presence from outside and one of their best defenders. It’s just a shame that they had to lose him now, when they could get a big jump on their schedule.

The good news is that even without Carroll, the Raptors still have plenty of talent to carry the team to wins in his absence.

That Kyle Lowry guy is pretty good.
