10 potential head coach replacements for Chuck Pagano
5. Hue Jackson
Hue Jackson is going to get his chance to be a head coach in the NFL again. It’s probably going to be in 2016, as some team is going to want to hire him after the exceptional job that he has done with the Cincinnati Bengals and more importantly, Andy Dalton.
Coming into the season, there had been a lot of questions about the Bengals and whether or not Dalton was their future at quarterback, but they have been an offensive force this season. Not only have they been a force on offense, but because of the numbers that they are putting up and Dalton’s rapid-quick release, they are seen as a major Super Bowl contender.
The work of head coach Hue Jackson can’t be understated. He’s fixed Dalton and has the offense rolling with his play calls. When he was fired by the Oakland Raiders, it was a confusing decision as the Raiders had a 7-4 record at one point with him before finishing 8-8.
For the struggles of the Raiders, firing a guy that went 8-8 was seen as absolutely crazy. Jackson has worked hard to get back to this point, where he can be considered for a head coaching job in this league.
His work with the Bengals this season is going to get him one. If he can get the Bengals offense going, just imagine what he can do with Andrew Luck, T.Y. Hilton and the rest of the Indianapolis Colts‘ offense. It’s almost the perfect situation for him to walk into.
