3. David Shaw

David Shaw has a pretty sweet job at Stanford, and has job security for life as the head coach of the Cardinal. With multiple Pac-12 Championships and three Pac-12 Coach of the Year awards, Shaw has slowly become one of the best coaches in college football.

While many see him eventually making the jump to the NFL, because of his pro-style of offense, Shaw isn’t just going to leave a potential perennial playoff team in college for just any regular head coaching job. He’s only going to the right situation.

That’s where the Indianapolis Colts come in. Shaw coached Andrew Luck in his final year at Stanford, and had been with the program before Luck even entered Palo Alto.

Luck’s stock was already high by the time Shaw became his head coach, but Shaw and him had great success in Luck’s final year at Stanford.

If Shaw was going to go to the NFL, it would be hard to not see him go to the Indianapolis Colts, where he could coach Andrew Luck once again. With the right front office around him and Luck at quarterback, Shaw could potentially be the spark that makes the Colts AFC contenders once again.
