Jon Bon Jovi denies rumors of buying Tennessee Titans

Jon Bon Jovi made it clear through his band’s Twitter account Tuesday morning that he is not part of a group trying to buy the NFL’s Tennessee Titans.
Jon Bon Jovi dispelled the rumors first made public by CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora about the rock star’s interest in buying the Tennessee Titans franchise away from the current owners in the Bud Adams Trust. Bon Jovi used his band’s Twitter handle to clear up the rumors about being part of a group to buy the AFC South franchise.
While Bon Jovi may one day aspire to own an NFL franchise, it seems that the Adams Family is intent on keeping their team that deceased patriarch has owned since the team was the Houston Oilers of the American Football League in the early 1960s.
Bon Jovi did throw his hat into the ring when the Buffalo Bills came up for sale in 2013 after the death of longtime owner Ralph Wilson. The Bills ultimately went to Terry Pegula, who also owns the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres franchise.
Through Bon Jovi’s tweet, the singer implies that while he does have interest in owning a team like the Tennessee Titans, he isn’t going to vulture a franchise away from a family that has no intentions to sell at this time.
However in La Canfora’s report on Sunday, it seems as though the Adams Family aren’t exactly heavily involved in NFL ownership meetings and that could put pressure on the family to sell if they aren’t going to actively participate as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell seems fit.
Nashville is a key media market for the NFL, where sports and music collide. Perhaps Bon Jovi does maintain interest in owning the club, but won’t actively pursue ownership until at least the Titans go up for sale, should that ever happen.
