16. Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons started off the season with so much promise, and then some schmuck thought it would be funny to pluck the Dirty Birds’ wings, pull the trapdoor and sent the Falcons in a downward trajectory. Life is not good down in The A.

Defensive mastermind Dan Quinn decides to roll the dice and take Myles Jack from UCLA. The talented two-way player from the Bruins tore up his knee and somewhat controversially (at least to his coach, Jim Mora) decided to enter the NFL Draft and spend his time rehabbing rather than studying.

This Jack pick looks very similar to the Rams’ selection of Todd Gurley from last year. Jack possesses a massive amount of talent and natural ability, but his knee injury is a question mark. He plays a position where lateral movement is paramount, so this is a selection with some risk.

There’s a temptation to go with Jonathan Bullard since he’s a more locally known product, as well as one that Quinn recruited to the University of Florida. However, after taking Vic Beasley in last year’s draft it’s now time to fortify the linebacking position.

Beyond that, Jack can occasionally hop over to offense if there’s a need in the backfield – much like this season when Devonta Freeman was down with a concussion.
