Every NBA team’s MVP, from Kevin Durant to LeBron James
By Tom West
Washington Wizards: John Wall
This is an easy choice. As a hyper athletic 6’4″ point guard, with stellar defense and exceptional playmaking ability, John Wall has to be named as the Wizards’ MVP. He’s not only one of the best in the game at his position, but he runs the Wizards’ offense and he doubles as a top defender, too.
When it comes to play in transition, there’s possibly no guard better than John Wall. He’s beyond fast, and when he takes in a rebound or receives a quick outlet pass to break away, he can blow past any defender that gets in his way. His range has improved over the course of his career, and since making only 49 three pointers over his first three seasons, he’s made 173 in the last two years alone. He’s gradually honed every part of his game, and he’s become a better facilitator and defender to go along with his athleticism fancy, 360 layups.
Despite all his talent, though, this season hasn’t been the best for Wall. As the Wizards have struggled to a 9-10 record to rank just 11th in the Eastern Conference, Wall has also been below the double double, All-Star standard he displayed last season. His shot selection and frequency has been awry at times, he’s turning the ball over more than ever (4.3 turnovers a game), and his assist numbers have dropped from 10 a game in 2014-15 to 8.1. Plus, besides Wall, the Wizards have been completely off all together.
2015-16 doesn’t look like it’s going to be easy for either Wall or Washington, but there’s no doubt he’s still the team’s MVP.
