(5-7). Previous: . Chicago Bears. 20. team. 57.
What in the hell happened last Sunday? Just when they were humming along, the Chicago Bears ran into a brick wall named Blaine Williamson Gabbert. Who would’ve thought that the dusted off arm of Gabbert would march right into Soldier Field and take down the Bears?

That night, George “Papa Bear” Halas was rolling in his grave.

It’s a rough road ahead for the Bears. Entering the season, a closing month of the Washington Redskins, Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Detroit Lions appeared to be a godsend. Now … not so fast my friend.

The Redskins are atop of their division (albeit a terrible one), as are the Vikings, and both the Bucs and Lions have fielded competitive teams. Heck, the Buccaneers might just be the hottest team in the NFL.

In order to get things going again, the Bears need to get their defense and special teams back to at least a non-attrocious level. When you can’t make a 36-yard field goal, and when Gabbert runs 44-yards a touchdown then, my friend, it’s time to send up a warning flare.

It’s been a soft winter thus far in the Midwest’s crown jewel city. Maybe the Bears are just mirroring the weather: unimposing.
