Roger Goodell thinks concussion jokes are hilarious (Video)

Roger Goodell is dealing with the most dangerous era in NFL history — but manages to find concussions funny.

The current concussion issue in the NFL is not something that the world is taking lightly. Once a sport where the hardest hits got the flashiest highlights, we live in an age where we watch a man like Wes Welker take hit after hit and think not of the replay value but of how bran damaged he’ll be in 5-10 years.

Stars from eras past like Dave Duerson and  Junior Seau are killing themselves instead of living with the pain that football has caused them, and we’re watching as stars like Tony Dorsett and others slow waste away into shells of human beings thanks to their brains literally rotting inside their skulls.

Funny stuff — right, Roger Goodell?

That’s the impression that the world has after Goodell laughed at a concussion joke from Roger Staubach at a recent event.

Here’s the joke and Goodall’s reaction:

You can try to defend this by saying he was just playing along — but there’s not a whole lot of things funny about guys in your sport mashing their brains into squash to the point where shooting yourself in the chest with a shotgun is the only way out.

Hardy, har-har.

It’s not rocket science to not make this look bad. All Goodell has to do is be stone faced and shake his head at the joke. That’s what someone who isn’t completely tone deaf to the issue would do. The NFL is all about posturing and image — which is why it’s so surprising that Goodell misstepped here by laughing at a concussion joke.

C’mon, man.
