Put these five NFL teams on upset alert for Week 14

The NFL regular season is rapidly approaching its conclusion, as the 2015 campaign is already three-quarters of the way through entering Week 14. Each team only has four regular-season contests left on the schedule and, while that’s a bit saddening for fans wanting to consume as much NFL action as possible, that also means there’s still four more weeks of the general NFL insanity that we should be coming to expect at this point.

After starting the season 10-0, the New England Patriots have now lost their last two games, including a shocking defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles last week. Moreover, teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Kansas City Chiefs are riding on a high right now and look to be on the verge of absolutely destroying any opponent put in front of them. Then there’s the dumpster fire of mediocrity known as the NFC East that has a depressingly tight race going on for the division lead.

Despite how things have been shaken up, though, the one constant this season has been the Carolina Panthers winning football games. Carolina comes into Week 14 still undefeated and looking as dangerous as they ever have. Moreover, their final four games of the season are all against teams currently sitting at .500 or worse.

In theory, it looks like the Panthers are going to finish the season 16-0. They’re clearly superior to their final four opponents of the regular season and, on paper, should cruise through Week 17. However, an undefeated regular season is just incredibly difficult to complete for any team, no matter who is on the remaining schedule.

I still fully expect the Panthers to lose before this season over. Whether that’s due to resting players in the final weeks of the season or just simply coming out in one of the next four weeks and it not being Carolina’s day. The odds are that they won’t remain perfect.

Everything considered, though, it’s just too impossible to predict when this team is going to lose and when they should be on upset alert. Even with the assumption that a loss is coming at some point, it’s too difficult to predict which of their inferior remaining opponents is going to be the one to beat them into submission.

Even if the Panthers aren’t on upset alert in Week 14, though, there are plenty of other teams that should be watching their back. These are the five teams that should be put on upset alert this week.
