Gregg Popovich doesn’t understand the word ‘happy’
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich doesn’t think the word ‘happy’ makes any sense
San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich is one of the most unintentionally comedic people on the planet, but particularly in the NBA. His quips and love-hate relationship with the media almost always comes off as entertaining, but he delivered an all-time great quip on Friday night prior to the Spurs matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.
While talking to the media, Popovich had one of his signature moments where he just happens to say something that is the funniest thing you’ll hear all day by simply trying to downplay things. Asked something about being “happy,” the Spurs head coach offered his thoughts on the word:
My God, that is the most perfect thing that anyone ever has ever said. Pop being the biggest curmudgeon in the entire world is one of the best things in all of sports, especially because he has to just be playing everyone at this point.
Or maybe never being happy and not understanding happiness in Popovich’s key to success with the Spurs. Perhaps that’s what motivates him to always have a leg up on the rest of the league and to always seem to have his players ready, by never allowing himself or his team to be happy. Maybe he just revealed his deepest secret.
But he’s really, probably just trolling us all.
