2) Baltimore Orioles

Following an 81-81 season, the Orioles are firmly stuck between rebuilding for the future and contending next season. Baltimore has a fine core group of players including a cornerstone in Manny Machado, but plenty of flaws to fix on its roster with limited resources to do so.

However, the Orioles made it clear they are in win-now mode by bringing back O’Day for four years and $31 million. If that’s indeed the case, Baltimore quickly needs to get moving and add some more pieces.

Re-signing Chris Davis would obviously be a huge step and Baltimore surprisingly offered him a $150 million contract, far higher than any deal in team history. However, Davis doesn’t seem likely to sign that contract, so it’s time for the Orioles to think about using that money on other areas of the roster.

Corner outfield is a massive hole on the team that the Orioles need to address to have any shot in 2016. Upton would be a nice fit, or the team could bring back Parra to save some money.

Beyond that, the Orioles need to find some value starting pitching on the open market, which won’t be an easy task. Bringing in a replacement for Davis – perhaps someone like Pedro Alvarez – should also be on Baltimore’s mind.
