Derrick Henry won the 2015 Heisman Trophy and Twitter had some thoughts

The race for the 2015 Heisman Trophy came down to three finalists being invited to New York on Saturday night after countless others put forth impressive seasons in college football. However, it was Stanford Cardinal running back Christian McCaffrey, Alabama Crimson Tide running back Derrick Henry, and Clemson Tigers quarterback Deshaun Watson that were the three top vote-getters in 2015.

However, the tops of the three finalists was announced at the famed ceremony in New York on Saturday night. After keeping us hanging for just a bit longer, it was Alabama’s Henry that was awarded the 2015 Heisman Trophy, the favorite in terms of the betting odds coming into the festivities.

As the favorite, most college football fans expected that Henry would be the one hoisting the trophy and putting his name among the all-time greats in the sport. However, that didn’t stop fans of all three schools, all three players, and college football in general from voicing their opinions in the only acceptable way in 2015, via Twitter.

There were those that were happy for Henry:

There were the fans that thought that one of the other two players were more deserving:

And, of course, there were those just coming to crack jokes:

(I’m not sure if that last one is a joke, but it could be if you look at it right.)

Regardless of what Twitter had to say, though, congratulations to Henry. It’s doubtful he’ll have time to celebrate long, though; he’s got a pretty big bowl game to prepare for along with his Alabama teammates.
