Oregon State’s Gary Payton II flew for an enormous dunk (Video)

Oregon State’s Gary Payton II, son of Gary Payton, threw down a huge dunk on Kansas

Gary Payton II is the son of NBA great Gary Payton. The senior was one of the best perimeter defenders in the history of the league. Payton II is a senior guard for the Oregon State Beavers, who were facing a tough opponent in the No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday night. That didn’t stop the junior Payton from doing something amazing.

With the Beavers already having the second-ranked Jayhwawks on the ropes, Payton drove to the basket from the right. He then decided he wanted to get to the rim. To get there, he apparently turned on a jetpack underneath his jersey, because that’s the only explanation for how he flew through the air and over the Jayhawks defense for a monstrous dunk:

I don’t think Gary Payton Sr. was every capable of doing anything even remotely close to that. That’s the type of dunk that makes people at home jump off of their couches and yelp with excitement, much less the reaction it elicits from the fans in the arena.

If Gary Payton Sr. was “The Glove” for his lockdown defense, maybe we should start calling Payton II “The Inside Joke;” he’s clearly just going to go over everyone’s head.
