Andy Dalton could be out for the season
Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Andy Dalton could be out for the season after suffering a broken thumb against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
All of a sudden the Cincinnati Bengals’ is unraveling before their eyes. Before Sunday, the Bengals sat at 10-2, almost certain of the AFC North division title and and the number one seed in the AFC. How quickly things change. The Bengals got battered by their AFC North rivals, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and it looks as though they now will have to complete the season without their star quarterback.
After starting poorly in this AFC North matchup, the Bengals were trying to pull themselves back into the game in the first half. With the offense rolling and well into the red zone, Dalton tried to fire the ball into running back Giovanni Bernard on a screen pass. However, he found defensive end Stephon Tuitt and out of sheer embaressment at such a terrible interception, dived at the feet at Tuitt, injuring his right thumb in the process.
It has later been announced that Dalton fractured his thumb, and according to Bob Holtzman of ESPN, will be out for the season. If such news is true, it will be a major blow to the Bengals. Dalton and his offense have been on fire throughout the year so far, and have helped propel the Bengals to one of the best teams in the NFL. With postseason hopes and dreams of a Super Bowl, Cincinnati may well have to make such dreams a reality without their starting quarterback.
