Cam Newton has three touchdown passes. In the first half.
Sometimes Cam Newton makes it look too easy. The Carolina Panthers quarterback is putting on a clinic against their NFC South rival, the Atlanta Falcons.
Newton and the Panthers head to the half with a 28-0 lead thanks to the impressive play of the team’s MVP candidate. Cam has 246 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions. He is 12-of-17 passing so far, all numbers that would make for a solid day, let alone just two quarters of play.

Newton has taken advantage of he Falcons struggling defense, which has also surrendered 75 yards on ten carries to running back Jonathan Stewart.
Stewart gave Carolina the lead with a one-yard score and Newton took it from there. He found receiver Tedd Ginn, Jr. for two touchdowns in the first quarter. The first of the two passes covered 74-yards and came with 6:48 seconds left in the quarter. The second time the two hooked up for a score was on a 46-yard pass, which happened with just 12 seconds left in the opening quarter.
The Panthers were quiet for much of the second half, and then had a slight scare as Newton headed to the sideline after being sandwiched by two Falcon defenders. Newton was on the sideline just long enough to watch his understudy, Derek Anderson hit a 24-yard completion on his only attempt.
Fans could take a deep breath as Newton was jumping around in celebration following the long pass by Anderson to Philly Brown.
Newton then re-entered the game and threw an absolute bullet to back up tight end Ed Dickson for a four-yard touchdown with only 17 second remaining in the half.
Up 28-0 at the half, it looks like a safe bet that Carolina could be moving to 13-0 on the season in its quest to perfection. The Falcons meanwhile are in serious danger of falling under .500 on the year as they sit at 6-6 after a hot start to the season.
