Which Heisman Trophy winners had the most successful NFL careers of all time?

Winning the Heisman Trophy hasn’t exactly guaranteed success in the NFL. Many Heisman winners actually go on to being irrelevant just a few years after being drafted. A handful of the collegiate stars who have taken home the trophy have gone on to take home more trophies in the NFL, but who have been the best?

The Heisman Trophy is one of the most prestigious awards in all of sports. It’s easily the top award in college athletics and this year’s winner, Alabama running back Derrick Henry, has a lot of hype to live up to, especially since many fans believe the Heisman is a curse. Can Henry break the curse and prove to be a better professional than the running backs who came before him in Tuscaloosa?

There are always exceptions to the curse of winning the Heisman — and no I’m not talking about Tim Tebow or Troy Smith. Plenty of winners have made solid careers in the NFL and have carried over the success in college — sometimes even looking better at the professional level.

For most years, the Heisman Trophy could be awarded to two or three quarterbacks. That could be said for this season as well because Henry, Christian McCaffrey and Deshaun Watson were neck-and-neck, for the most part. Henry became the second running back to win The Heisman since 2009 and the last to do so? Alabama’s Mark Ingram.

Let’s take a look at the Heisman Trophy winners who have had the most successful NFL careers since the award was created in 1935.
