Seattle Seahawks running back Thomas Rawls injured his ankle.
Seattle Seahawks rookie running back Thomas Rawls has been one of the biggest surprise players of the 2015 season. He took over for the team’s star runner Marshawn Lynch after he was injured earlier in the year.
So the team has to be holding their breath as Rawls has now walked into the locker room with an apparent injury during the first quarter of the ‘Hawks game against the Baltimore Ravens.
Rawls was limping slightly as trainers walked with him into the locker room, and reports are he is out for the rest of the game with an ankle injury.
The undrafted rookie played collegiately at Central Michigan and started this season as the fourth guy on the depth chart for Seattle. He was thrust into a starting role after an abdominal injury to Lynch required surgery, and the running game for Seattle didn’t miss a beat.
Coming into the game against Baltimore, Rawls has carried the ball 141 times for 786 yards and four touchdowns. His per carry average is an impressive 5.6 yards and his tough running style has allowed the team to stick to their ground-and-pound style of offense.
After Rawls headed to the sideline, quarterback Russell Wilson was able to connect with receiver Tyler Lockett on an eight yard score. Seattle is up 7-0 but will need to find a way to make up for Rawls impressive production.
