Andy Dalton does not need to hurry back to the Cincinnati Bengals lineup

Andy Dalton has started 80 straight games at quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. There is absolutely no reason he should push himself to start his 81st game in a row. The Bengals should take the cautious route with their franchise QB and make sure he’s completely healthy before he steps back under center.

Bengals fans are sure that Dalton’s injury is their franchise’s bad luck rearing its ugly head again. In actuality, it could be a blessing in disguise for the franchise. Nothing is more important for the Bengals than entering the playoffs with a healthy Andy Dalton. Sure, a broken thumb isn’t a good thing for him right now, but it could provide his entire body some priceless rest as we move closer to the games that really matter.

After all, a broken thumb is not as bad as a torn-ACL or some other season-ending injury that would put Dalton in IR and torpedo the Bengals’ chances to reach the Super Bowl. It’s not a bad thing that he’s taken a minor injury if it prevents a major one. Maybe the Bengals luck has actually changed after all?

Read on to find out five reasons why Andy Dalton shouldn’t rush back for the Cincinnati Bengals despite being one of the team’s most important players.
