Pistons center Andre Drummond sent Chris Paul flailing with a behind-the-back crossover

When you think about the things that Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond does well, you think about the things like his ability to rebound, his power and athleticism around the rim, and his general physical prowess on the interior. Something like his ball-handling (and free throw shooting) aren’t things that come to mind, but that didn’t stop Drummond from embarrassing Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul with a crossover.

On Monday night as the Pistons battled the Clippers, Drummond took an inbound pass and, after almost seeing the pass get intercepted, he spun and started driving to the rim. The big man then took on CP3 off the dribble and then dropped the point guard with a nasty behind-the-back dribble:

Unfortunately, Drummond’s attempt to finish the possession was less than ideal as he put up a floater that sailed roughly 30 feet over the rim. However, it’s not every day that you see a man of his size taking on a point guard while handling the ball, much less having success in doing so.

Drummond has been phenomenal all season amidst Detroit’s success to start the year and seems to be well on his way to his first career All-Star Game. Maybe he’ll bust out his handles once again in Toronto for All-Star Weekend.
