houston texans. 16. team. 10.
It started in practice this past week and carried up until game time – the Houston Texans really couldn’t stay out of the way of bad luck. From J.J. Watt breaking his hand in practice to late news on Sunday that Rob Gronkowski would play for the New England Patriots, the deck seemed stacked against Houston. As it turns out, that was the case.

The Texans were absolutely anemic on offense. Matched up against his onetime teammate Tom Brady, Brian Hoyer, unfortunately, looked like a backup elevated to the starting role (not a compliment). Though his life might be easier if he had a backfield that could run for mroe than 87 yards. Or, for that matter, an offensive line that could keep defenders off his back. The Texans looked like they were playing a man down on offense all night long.

If there’s a bright spot to be found in the loss, it’s that Jadeveon Clowney finally had himself an exemplary game. The former No. 1 pick notched seven tackles (four solo) and two sacks. For Houston, the team can be hopeful that he has finally turned the corner and living up to expectations.

The final three games of this season are all against division opponents. If the Texans want to make the playoffs, they need to rebound and begin Sherman’s march next Sunday against the Colts.
. (6-7). Previous:
