Texans’ Brian Hoyer has suffered a concussion
Brian Hoyer is currently going through concussion protocol after taking a sack in the fourth quarter against the New England Patriots.
Last night was bad all around for the Houston Texans. Rob Gronkowski was declared active, and then caught four receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown. Tom Brady had his way with a previously vaunted defense, and nothing on offense worked whatsoever. Well, to add to coach Bill O’Brien’s misery, it has been declared that Brian Hoyer is being evaluated for his second concussion of the year.
With Hoyer now on the sidelines, T.J. Yates is being prepared as the starter for Houston’s key AFC South match up with the Indianapolis Colts. With a divisional title and a postseason birth on the line, Sunday’s game is perhaps the most important for both the Colts and the Texans, and Hoyer’s absence will be a major blow for Houston as they attempt to bounce back.
One positive for the Texans will be the performance of Jadeveon Clowney. While Khalil Mack, who was taken three spots below him by the Oakland Raiders, the 2014’s first overall pick has been disappointing so far, suffering from poor form and injuries. However, he flashed all of his ability of Sunday night, sacking Tom Brady twice. The Texans’ offense struggled all night, and if they are to underwhelm again on Sunday, Houston will need every bit of Clowney and J.J. Watt to compete with the Colts.
It is the biggest game of the season for both teams, and both could be without their starting quarterback. It is not known whether Hoyer will be able to practice, nevermind play on Sunday, but what is known, is that Houston’s task will be a lot harder with their starting quarterback on the sidelines. rather than under center.
