Jared Goff. 5. player. 42.
It seems like most of the quarterbacks in this year’s draft carry big questions marks over their heads, so San Francisco goes with the safest pick at the quarterback position. Keeping Jared Goff in the state of California only seemed like a natural fit.

Goff has some very intriguing traits the 49ers will love as they rebuild from what was once a strong Super Bowl contender (it seems like decades ago that the Niners and Ravens were playing in Super Bowl XLVII). The young quarterback has excellent arm strength, a quick throwing motion, and will show decent accuracy as he reads through his progressions. While his lower body can seem stiff, it’s simply something minor and it clearly isn’t affecting his play. He’s a much different style passer than Colin Kaepernick, who we all know to run across the field and extend plays.

Goff is going to settle himself in the pocket the majority of the time, but he has that sneaky athleticism scouts love if he needs to elude pressure. The hometown kid is here to save the day in San Francisco and he has all the tools to do it. Now, they just need to give him weapons and protection in the later rounds. The Niners missed out on a first-round, home-grown talent when they passed on Aaron Rodgers a decade ago; they don’t make the same mistake twice
. QB. Cal
