After his lifetime ban was upheld, Pete Rose showed up wearing a collar with the words “hit king” on it.
On Monday, everyone got their answer as to whether or not Pete Rose would finally be reinstated to Major League Baseball. Commissioner Rob Manfred upheld Rose’s ban and it doesn’t appear that the game’s greatest hitter will ever get a chance to go in the Hall of Fame.
On Tuesday, Rose held a news conference where he discussed the commissioner’s decision to uphold his ban. Although Rose was disappointed with the decision, he understood it and promised to continue to be a friend to baseball.
Not only was Rose understanding about the ordeal, he also showed up wearing a shirt that had the words “Hit King” on his collar.
While Rose will probably never be recognized in the Hall of Fame, it’s great to see that he isn’t afraid to let people know of his biggest accomplishment in Major League Baseball, and that’s becoming the all-time hits leader for a career.
Say all you want about Rose off the field, but there’s no denying what he did on the field as a player. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to get his ban lifted.
Still, when you’re the greatest hitter of all-time, you gotta show it off on the collar.
