After being dispatched by the Houston Texans, quarterback Ryan Mallett received help before signing with the Baltimore Ravens.

Ryan Mallett once came into the league as a highly-regarded young quarterback prospect. Things transpired and quickly Mallett was just trying to find a job in the NFL.

After personal issues led to his departure from the Houston Texans, Mallett has now signed with the Baltimore Ravens, who are in need of a quarterback after the injuries at their quarterback position.

While Mallett is getting a fresh start with the Ravens, the team acknowledges that he has stuff to deal with and according to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Mallett has received professional help for his issues.

"The Baltimore Ravens decided to sign Ryan Mallett after the quarterback assured them he has received professional help for personal issues that contributed to his downfall with the Houston Texans, according to a league source."

Mallett is still fairly young and their might be some talent for the Ravens to tap into. With Joe Flacco and Matt Schaub done for the season, Mallett will be able to get a little more experience and could potentially spend more time learning from behind Flacco next season, as he tries to become a starting quarterback in this league.

The team is playing for a top draft pick, but if they can find another arm on the roster for the future, then Mallett might just turn out to be a very good signing for them.

It’s not known what his personal issues are, but if he can keep getting the professional help he needs, then it could be just what he needs to stay in the NFL. The Ravens certainly think he’s getting the help he needs.
