Roman Reigns thanked the Philadelphia crowd after winning the WWE title for motivating him with boos at Royal Rumble
Roman Reigns became WWE World Heavyweight Champion on Monday Night RAW in Philadelphia by defeating Sheamus just one night after the Celtic Warrior used nefarious means to take down Reigns at TLC and retain the title. Reigns overcame more interference from both the League of Nations and even Vincent Kennedy McMahon himself to win at RAW, but it was worth it to get a hold of the belt.
However, it was almost a year ago in Philadelphia when Reigns was booed relentlessly at the Royal Rumble after he won the titular match. Fans were not yet buying into the next big thing in WWE and they were vocal about their displeasure with Roman getting the win and going on to main event WrestleMania 31.
Reigns remembered this and, after his WWE title win on Monday, he celebrated with his friends and then addressed the Philly crowd. In an incredibly cool moment, Roman thanked the fans in the city for booing him, saying that it motivated him to get to this moment:
Regardless on your thoughts on Reigns, on his newfound championship run, or anything of the sort, you can’t deny what an awesome moment this was after the show went off the air. Now let’s hope we get more awesome moments on television with Roman as the new champion.
