Detroit Tigers reliever Bruce Rondon starter a bench clearing brawl in Venezuela.

Baseball is a year-round sport and so are the brawls.

During a game in Venezuela, Detroit Tigers reliever Bruce Rondon incited a riot on the field. After Rondon hit the Pirates’ Jose Osuna, Osuna took objection to the fact that Rondon would make a pick-off attempt right away on him.

Rondon wasn’t happy Osuna took offense to his pick-off move and the two sides began jawing at each other. The very large Rondon charged Osuna and the two began exchanging punches as both benches cleared onto the field.

This isn’t just the normal pushing and shoving brawl. There are real punches being thrown and two players on the field trying to beat the stuffing out of each other.

Osuna is just a prospect for the Pirates, while Rondon is a big league pitcher for the Tigers that has struggled and has been sent home from the team for his lack of effort.

While effort may be an issue for Rondon, he didn’t waste any when he started a full-scale brawl on the field. There’s nothing quite like a good baseball brawl, but when punches start getting thrown, that’s when things get serious and punishments start getting handed out. If Rondon is trying to get back to the majors, starting a brawl isn’t his best option.
