The Cincinnati Reds have agreed to trade All-Star third baseman Todd Frazier to the Chicago White Sox as a part of a three team deal that will also include the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Frazier is coming off a breakout season in Cincinnati, where hit a career-best 35 home runs and 43 doubles, as well as producing  89 runs batted in. He won the All-Star Home Run Derby in front of his hometown fans as well, during his second consecutive All-Star appearance.

As a part of the deal, the Reds will receive outfielder Scott Schebler, as well as top prospect Jose Peraza and Brandon Dixon. The Dodgers get the White Sox’s top pitching prospect in Frankie Montas as a part of the deal, as well as infielder Micah Johnson and outfielder Trayce Thompson.

Montas made his MLB debut last year, working to a 4.80 ERA in seven appearances, including two starts. This followed him making the jump from Double-A Birmingham, where he worked to a 5-5 record over 23 starts, striking out 108 in 112 innings.

The acquisition of Frazier continues Chicago’s push to provide new life into their offense. They recently completed a trade to acquire third baseman Brett Lawrie from the Oakland Athletics and are believed to be shopping for an upgrade at shortstop as well, with long-time SS Alexei Ramirez currently a free agent.

The multi-faceted Frazier has experience at both third and first base, as well as left field.
