The kiss cam made things awkward for two fans taking in a Spurs basketball game together.

It’s one of the cardinal rules of attending a live sports game.

When the ‘wave’ makes its way around to your section, you stand up, roll your arms into the air, and cheer. When a baseball game hits the seventh inning stretch, you belt out “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” When the dance cam finds you sitting alone in the crowd, pouting because your team is down by a double-digit margin, you rally, channel your inner Travolta, and bust out some embarrassing dance moves.

And if you should be so lucky to find yourself targeted by the kiss cam, you kiss. Especially if you find yourself sharing a screen with someone cute.

Unfortunately for two San Antonio Spurs fans, what should have been a welcome invitation to pucker up and lock lips quickly turned into an awkward and potentially confusing exchange. The guy in the frame seemed willing enough for a smooch, but the girl wanted nothing of it.

Perhaps they were just friends taking in a little innocent basketball together? Even still… would a quick peck really have been the end of the world? It took 63 excruciating seconds of being featured on the Jumbotron, and a last ditch effort by the kiss cam operator (the mistletoe was a nice touch), for the rest of us to be put out of our cringing misery.
