Donovan McNabb was released from prison Friday after serving 18 days for a DUI arrest.

The former NFL quarterback and television analyst for Fox and NBC Sports was pulled over last June after he rear-ended another vehicle leaving an Arizona sports bar. No one was hurt in the accident, but police performed a series of inebriation tests on McNabb, and reportedly McNabb failed at least six of them.

When asked if he’d been drinking, McNabb told the officer he hadn’t, although he did admit he was battling a cold and had ingested a decent amount of cough syrup, along with several cough drops. However, when McNabb was given a blood test back at the station, his BAC came in at 0.17 – more than twice the legal limit.

McNabb was promptly sentenced to 18 days of prison time, 72 days of house arrest, and 30 hours of mandatory community service. He began his jail time right after Thanksgiving, and will now begin the house arrest portion of his punishment.

This isn’t McNabb’s first foray with the law. He also spent a day in prison for a DUI arrest back in 2013.

McNabb is best known for his tenure with the

Philadelphia Eagles

, whom he led to five NFC Championship game appearances and one Super Bowl appearance. He also played briefly for the

Washington Redskins

and

Minnesota Vikings

before retiring for a career in television.

McNabb was suspended from both sports analysis jobs upon his booking, and it is unclear at this time whether he will be reinstated to either media outlet when he completes his house arrest.
