The New York Mets officially announced that they are bringing back pitcher Bartolo Colon to the organization.

The New York Mets will be bringing back everyone’s favorite pitcher, Bartolo Colon. The team officially announced on Friday, that they have re-signed the veteran pitcher to a one-year deal.

In 2015, Colon was a very valuable piece for the Mets as he could do whatever they needed him to do. He could start, spot-start or even come out of the bullpen, but the one thing that he could do best for the team is eat innings, and now they have that for another season.

A guy like Colon is invaluable to the Mets, because the team has such a young and talented rotation that they need to be careful with the arms they have, especially considering that a couple of their young pitchers have already had Tommy John surgery.

With a guy like Colon, he can eat innings and put the team in a spot to win, while more importantly protecting the arms of their younger pitchers. The team already has a pretty full rotation with their young arms, but Colon will certainly get his fair share of starts and even some big outings of the bullpen, should someone not last long into a game.

He’s a fan favorite for his hilarious bat swings and the 42-year-old still continues to carry on strong, despite the fact that he will turn 43 years old early on into next season. Reliability has been the key to Colon’s career and he has really crafted and adapted his pitching game well to age.

Should the New York Mets look to finally win that World Series in 2015, they’re going to need key veteran pieces on the pitching staff to match their young arms, and Colon is a guy that’s been there and done that.
