49. player. 51.
Blocking along the offensive line has been a misadventure for the St. Louis Rams all year. No position has showcased that more than the guards. Collectively they’ve allowed six sacks and 18 hits on the quarterbacks while committing seven penalties. If this team is going to get better in the passing game, it starts up front.

The NFC West is teaming with good defenses, so head coach Jeff Fisher has to know he can’t stop loading up on the offensive line every chance they gets. It’s too important. Guards may not get all the love and attention other positions do, but teams that are strong at that position tend to score lots of points in the NFL.

Since he hails from Kansas State, a lot of people won’t know the name Cody Whitehair. That’s too bad because the guy can play. While not overly elite in terms of physical talent, he has his fair share and makes up for the rest with discipline and mechanics in his blocking. Stout and dependable in pass protection. Maybe not the road grader the Rams like, but it’s a passing league so he has plenty of value.
. OG. Kansas State. Cody Whitehair
