Robin Lopez’s ongoing war with mascots continued on Friday with the Sixers’ K-9 mascot Franklin

New York Knicks center Robin Lopez has been many things over his NBA career, but perhaps what he’s most famous for is his war with mascots around the league. He’s made a habit of either harassing or simply getting into feuds with mascots throughout the league. That continued on Friday night as the Knicks took on the Philadelphia 76ers with the Sixers’ mascot Franklin.

As Lopez and the Knicks were getting warmed back up for the contest, Franklin approached Lopez wearing gold boxing gloves and holding a Christmas present. The big man opened the box to reveal a pair of boxing gloves. Lopez, without even putting the gloves on his hand, starting “jabbing” Franklin while holding the gloves before ultimately “knocking out” the Philly mascot:

In terms of strictly basketball, there’s at least a possibility that many NBA fans wouldn’t be quick to remember his contributions once he’s out of the league. However, his feuds with mascots change everything for his legacy. This NBA sub-plot is one of the most entertaining things going in the Association and it’s fantastic to see some of the league’s mascots like Franklin get in on the fun.
