The Jacksonville Jaguars appear likely to be without rookie running back T.J. Yeldon for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Normally when a team is staring down a 5-8 record with three weeks to go in the NFL season, the postseason isn’t much of a reality. However, the Jacksonville Jaguars can’t be completely written off at this point. Such is the case when you play in the worst division in football and a pair of 6-7 teams currently sit in first place.

While the Jaguars certainly have a shot at a potential division title and a playoff berth, they still need everything to go right for them in order to make the jump in the final weeks of the season. What they don’t need is be without a key player heading into a touch match-up.

Unfortunately, that appears to be the case, as it was announced on Friday that rookie running back T.J. Yeldon has been moved to doubtful as he continues to deal with a sprained MCL.

The loss of Yeldon would leave the Jaguars searching for a running game on Sunday against the Falcons. Yeldon has gained 740 yards rushing on 182 carries (4.1 YPC) and a pair of touchdowns. He’s also been a key piece of the passing game, totaling 279 yards on 36 receptions on the season.

Without Yeldon, the Jaguars will turn to Denard Robinson to solve a Falcons defense that ranks 15th in the league against the run, surrendering 105.6 yards per game. The former Michigan quarterback tallied 75 yards on 14 carries last week against Indianapolis in place of Yeldon, but has just 196 yards on the season after rushing for 582 in 2014.
