Round 5: Travis Feeney, Outside Linebacker, Washington

Washington OLB Travis Feeney is a bit undersized, but if he can bulk up ahead of the 2016 season, he would be a smart choice for the Cleveland Browns in the fifth round. Helping a player gain weight should be a lot easier than reparenting a player so he can develop better character.

Size is Feeney’s main downside, but beyond that, he is an aggressive, explosive player. His stats do not reflect his true potential as a linebacker since the Huskies often used him in coverage. With that skill set, if he does not put on the requisite bulk, is there a chance he could help the Browns hapless secondary as a safety? He has tremendous speed, though he often struggles with tackling in the open field. Despite that deficiency, he is worth a look since the Brown’s pass defense is so horrific.

With improved tackling, Feeney could eventually see a role on special teams, and would give the Browns some options in terms of linebacker or safety depending offseason weight gain and performance at training camp.

As a fifth-round pick, Feeney would not be a contributor right away. The Cleveland defense is weak, but not weak enough to have to rely on a fifth-round pick. Stranger things have happened in Cleveland, but that scenario is very unlikely.
