College Football: Picking 40 bowl games against the spread

Get ready to hit the window with these picks against the spread.

College football bowl season is for two kinds of people. Diehard fans simply cannot wait to take in a wide variety of pigskin action over a three-week period, and they must consume every bit of college football in preparation for the long drought of the spring and summer.

Then, you have people that enjoy handicapping.

Those are the people that we are targeting in this particular space, as we break down each game with an emphasis against the spread. Throughout the season, we have picked games in college football with a focus on “fading the public”, and that won’t change here, as we take the sides that you probably do not want in an effort to align with the “sharp” money of professional handicappers.

With 40 games on the docket, there is no time for delay, and with that, here are our ATS picks for each and every bowl game, coming to you in chronological order.

New Mexico Bowl – New Mexico (+8) over Arizona

This line is falling at a borderline incredible rate, and it is almost to the point where I would take Arizona.

Almost.

This is an actual home game for the Lobos, who are playing in their own stadium, and Arizona QB Anu Solomon is banged up in advanced of this contest. The line was incredibly high at the open (12.5 points) before settling here at the time of this post, and it wouldn’t shock me if it rose again before kick-off as the late public sees “Arizona” against a team they’ve never seen in New Mexico. Take the points unless the number falls within a single score.

Las Vegas Bowl – Utah (-2) over BYU

I’ve been on the Utah bandwagon throughout the season, and that is the biggest reason I’m riding them here. In the interest of full disclosure, staying away from this game is probably the best choice, as both teams are frisky and this particular contest is worth watching even without an investment in the outcome. I do think the Utes are the better team from top to bottom, and with BYU’s coaching unrest, that swings me to the side of Utah and the small number.
