Report: Cowboys could replace Matt Cassel with Kellen Moore vs Jets
Could the Dallas Cowboys be prepared to bench Matt Cassel if he struggles tonight?
The first Saturday night game of the NFL season will feature the Dallas Cowboys vs. the New York Jets. It will be one of the last games of the season for the lowly Cowboys, who have struggled this year with multiple players out due to injury.
One of those sidelined players is quarterback Tony Romo, who has been out for most of this season due to a broken collarbone. He was replaced by Brandon Weeden, who struggled mightily. Matt Cassel was then signed to play starting quarterback, but he hasn’t fared well either, throwing for 1,239 yards and just five touchdowns. Somehow, the Cowboys are still alive in the NFC East race since the division has been awful.
Well, it seems that the Cowboys are becoming disgruntled with the play of Cassel and are prepared to bench him tonight, because according to Pro Football Talk, Kellen Moore could get some reps tonight if the incumbent struggles.
Most fans may remember Moore as the quarterback who led Boise State to multiple winning seasons from 2008-2012. He was undrafted and signed with the Detroit Lions in 2012, but joined the Cowboys earlier this year.
Moore coming in for Cassel would be a sign of a white flag being raised for Dallas. This season has been rough for them, so they might as well see what the younger, inexperienced player can do on the field. Things can’t get any worse for Jerry Jones’ team, right?
