Denver Broncos 7-round mock draft
1st Round – Pick #29
Denver desperately needs to give some help to Osweiler. The offense is a complete mess and while an offensive lineman would certainly fit the bill, the Broncos might feel like taking the best running back beats taking the fifth or sixth-best lineman. If Ezekiel Elliott is on the board, Elway needs to think about this hard. Elliott is a perfect fit for head coach Gary Kubiak’s offense, being able to cut back, make a man miss and head for the hills.
Elliott gives the Broncos a dimension that is sorely lacking this season. Most experts believed that C.J. Anderson would be one of the best backs in football this year after looking good in the latter portion of 2014. However, those fools forgot that he was facing light boxes with defenses terrified of Peyton Manning. Once it became obvious that Manning could not longer get the ball deep, coupled with the offensive line being terrible, defenses stacked the box.
It might be time to invest in a running back and hope that he becomes the focal point of the offense for the next five years, allowing Osweiler to hit Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders with some play-action throws down the field.
