Kellen Moore did not waste time proving why he deserves to start for the Cowboys over Matt Cassel.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Kellen Moore has finally received his opportunity to take over as the starter. Matt Cassel performed abysmally in the first half and was finally benched after throwing an interception on intentional grounding. He also took a 19-yard sack. The Cowboys offense has shown more signs of life with Moore though, and Bryant is looking like a playmaker once again. Here is a video of Moore’s first touchdown of his career.

The left-handed quarterback threw an interception on his second pass of the game, but he instantly put that behind him and silenced his critics for now. The Cowboys took a 10-9 lead over the New York Jets with this touchdown late in the second quarter and are heading into halftime with this lead.

The Cowboys are still keeping their slim playoff hopes alive even with a 4-9 record, but they will have to win out to keep their dreams of winning the NFC East alive. The defense has held strong in the first half, and Moore appears to be the closest thing the Cowboys have to Tony Romo.

It remains to be seen whether the Jets offense can respond to this brilliant play by Moore and Bryant, but their offense has proven to be strong this season. Running back Bilal Powell is continuing to be a sneaky weapon with four catches for 47 yards. He has also added a 12-yard touchdown run to his night.
