The Arizona Wildcats defeated the New Mexico Lobos to win the 2015 New Mexico Bowl.
The New Mexico Bowl between the Arizona Wildcats and New Mexico Lobos was just as entertaining of game as it could be, as the two teams engaged in a shootout that saw plenty of points put up on the board.
Things didn’t get off to as fast of a start as the score would indicate between the two teams. The Wildcats would fumble on their first offensive possession of the game, which would lead to a New Mexico field goal.
The Lobos would then throw an interception on their next offensive possession, which would set up the first touchdown of the afternoon, as the thrilling wide receiver Caleb Jones and Solomon connected for a 78-yard touchdown, which ended up setting the tone for the rest of the afternoon.
A couple of possessions later, running back Jared Baker would get the ground game going for the Wildcats, as he took the ball 27 yards for the touchdown and a 14-3 lead for the Wildcats. The Lobos would eventually answer back, as Lamar Jordan sprinted in from 31 yards out for a score.
The shootout was suddenly on between the two schools. Arizona and New Mexico would each trade a couple of scores, before Arizona scored to end the half and right out of the half, as Jared Baker ran another touchdown in from 32 yards out, to make the score 35-17.
The two teams would trade scores yet again, with Arizona taking a 42-24 advantage, but the Lobos wouldn’t give in to Arizona, as Lamar Jordan once again punched the ball in the end zone, to make the score 42-31. The Lobos would inch a little closer on a touchdown to make it 42-37.
The Lobos would go down the field to try and take the lead in the middle of the fourth, but the Wildcats made a big fourth down stop to force the turnover on downs.
Arizona would then pick up several first downs on the ground, which caused New Mexico to burn all of their timeouts. With a little over a minute left, the Wildcats would extend their lead to 45-37 over the Lobos.
The Lobos would have one last chance to go down and tie the game, but their efforts would end as Arizona intercepted the ball, and Arizona would become the winners of the 2015 New Mexico Bowl.
