Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Francisco 49ers

The Cincinnati Bengals are left in a strange position coming into Week 15 of the 2015 NFL season as they still have the lead in the AFC North, but will also have to finish the year without Andy Dalton at quarterback. The Bengals will show everyone what exactly that means for this team on Sunday when they go on the road to face the San Francisco 49ers inside Levi’s Stadium.

A.J. McCarron will be making his first career NFL start come Sunday afternoon and the Bengals will be looking for bit things from him. You’d also have to expect that Cincinnati will be looking for A.J. Green and Jeremy Hill to help shoulder the workload on offense. Meanwhile, Blaine Gabbert and Shaun Draughm will have a big task on their hands as they try to get past one of the more formidable defenses in the league.

Keys to Victory

Though there are certainly a number of questions about them as a whole given their recent play, there’s no question that the key for the Bengals in this game is the performance of A.J. McCarron. The young quarterback performed admirable when he came off of the bench in the loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, but it remains to be seen how he’ll look when there’s more pressure on him as the starter and after a full week of practice.

It’s the quarterback that’s key when it comes to the 49ers’ chance at success as well. The Niners aren’t going to win this football game if Blaine Gabbert doesn’t step up and play mistake-free football as well as make some big plays. He’s done it on occasion since assuming the starting role, but doing it against a talented Bengals defense when Cincy is vulnerable means that Gabbert’s success has never been more important.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Bengals -5.5
Moneyline: Bengals -260, Eagles +220
O/U: 40.5

Prediction

This one has tremendous potential to just wind up being horribly boring and lacking a ton of offense by the time it’s over. That being said, I think the Bengals defense is too talented to fall to this Niners team and that Cincinnati prevails.

Final Score: Cincinnati Bengals: 20, San Francisco 49ers: 12
