Cam Newton gets crushed by the New York Giants’ pass rush and heads off the field with obvious pain in both his shoulder and his chest.

Cam Newton took a big hit from the New York Giants’ pass rush in the Carolina Panthers’ Week 15 game. Newton left the field after that hit in obvious discomfort, grabbing both his chest and his throwing shoulder.

Newton would come back and complete a 37-yard touchdown pass to tight end Greg Olson on the Panthers’ next series, but Newton will certainly feel that hit for the rest of Sunday’s game. Carolina continues on their quest to remain undefeated, but have a formidable foe in the Giants who are fighting for an NFC East Division title.

The Panthers have done better job in 2015 in protecting Newton, but the once-vaunted New York pass rush got to their MVP quarterback easily. Newton has been a terrific playmaker for the Panthers this season and is the catalyst for their impressive 13-0 start to 2015. However should Newton have to play through pain the rest of the game, he may need end up being as effective of a leader for his team.

Opponents are starting to grow tired of his excessive celebrations in the end zone, so it isn’t surprising to see a pass rush like the Giants lay the lumber on the Panthers starting quarterback. Derek Anderson is a suitable backup, but isn’t going to lead the Panthers to undefeated season should Newton’s health come into question stemming from this crushing hit at MetLife Stadium in Week 15.
