The future of Robert Griffin III is up in the air, but three big name teams could be in on him this offseason.

Robert Griffin III was once viewed as a savior in Washington, but that time is now long behind us. Kirk Cousins is the man that Jon Gruden wants in charge and that means RGIII is the odd-man out. The likelihood that he’s cut at the end of the season is pretty high, but there are a handful of teams that could take a chance on him if he hits the open market.

After all, he’s a Heisman winner who has the wheels and skills to be a threat in the right system in the NFL. The only question is which system is that?

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Cowboys, Saints and Eagles are all on a short list of teams that could pursue Robert Griffin III this offseason.

It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that RGIII will be cut at the end of the season, but there’s still some potential within him that could be developed. The Saints make sense as Drew Brees and Luke McCown mentoring RGIII could be something that helps turn him around in a big way as well as setting him up in a great place to succeed.

Philadelphia and Chip Kelly make sense too, but it’s always a wild card to say whether or not something is going to work in Philly. RGIII in theory makes sense but it also could be a train wreck waiting to happen.

Either way, there’s still tread on the tires with RGIII and he’s going to get a chance somewhere this offseason to work his way back up in the eyes of everyone in the league.
