12. “The Big Ticket” Kevin Garnett
Still in the league, there’s no way that you can question the greatness of Kevin Garnett at this point. He’s one of the defining players of this generation and has had a tremendous amount of both individual success and even team success as he joined the Boston Celtics after leaving the Minnesota Timberwolves. In light of all of this, his nickname of “The Big Ticket” is 100 percent fitting of Garnett.
Obviously Garnett is known as “KG” as well, but in terms of traditional nicknames it’s “The Big Ticket” that reigns supreme and that’s far from a bad thing. When you think about the implications of the nickname, it’s certainly one that is fitting of Garnett, especially when it was handed to him during his early years in the league in Minnesota.
Essentially “The Big Ticket” moniker implies that Garnett was worth the price of admission and, without question, he was. There haven’t been many players who were as dominant as Garnett was on both ends of the floor, but also had the unique personality on the court to also provide entertainment. His passion (and trash-talking) are near unparalleled in the NBA. Couple that with his tremendous skill an Garnett is “The Big Ticket” indeed.
