Following an undefeated season, Dabo Swinney has been named the AP Coach of the Year.

The Clemson Tigers ended their season with an undefeated 13-0 record and are getting set to face off against the Oklahoma Sooners in the College Football Playoff on New Year’s Eve. With a season like the Tigers had, the awards are going to come rolling in, and one did on Monday for head coach Dabo Swinney.

Following the success the team enjoyed this season, Swinney was named the AP Coach of the Year on Monday. Finishing as the only undefeated team in major college football, it was more or less a given that the Tigers head man was going to get the prestigious award here in 2015.

“I am very honored to receive the AP National Coach of the Year award,” Swinney said in a statement to the AP on Monday. “Football is a great team sport and any individual honor is a result of having a great group of players and staff. I am blessed to have student-athletes and coaches that believe in what we do. This award is a reflection of their hard work and commitment.”

Coming into the season, with a healthy Deshaun Watson returning at quarterback, there were many who believed that Clemson could indeed run the table and earn a berth in the College Football Playoff, and that’s exactly what they did. The only real obstacle folks saw in their way was the Florida State Seminoles, a team the Tiger took care of in Death Valley back in early November. Back on December , they clinched their undefeated season and spot in the playoff by defeating the North Carolina Tar Heels in the ACC title game.

Swinney took over the Clemson program in 2008 and has since turned them into a perennial power not only in the ACC, but in the national landscape as well. He’s compiled a record of 74-26 since he took over the South Carolina-based program, and in a little over a week, he’ll look to take them to the mountaintop of college football by earning a spot in the National Championship Game.

For now, though, congratulations to the Clemson head man on this award.
