Reshuffling the NFL Draft as we head full bore into Week 16.

Well Week 15 was interesting, wasn’t it? Some parts were of little surprise – Browns getting molly-whopped, Pats waxing Tennessee, Cards stomping a Grand Canyon-sized hole in Philly’s chest. While other games had a little bit of an unexpected outcome – the Chargers housing the Dolphins, Texans felling the Colts, and Carolina nearly falling to New York. All in all it was a pretty mixed bag.

If there was one thing that stood out about Week 15 it was just how many backups saw time. There’s no better example than the aforementioned Texans-Colts tilt, which saw both TJ Yates and Matt Hasselbeck (backups in their own rights) suffer injuries and the teams call for third stringers Brandon Weeden and Charlie Whitehurst to play snaps. In fact, 28% of the league started a backup quarterback on Sunday – not the best look for a league heading into its home stretch.

We are not only at the playoff push, but also the stage in the season where attrition is taking its toll. And with that attrition comes an understanding of teams’ weaknesses and areas that need bolstering – either through free agency or the draft. Should it be the latter, and if the season were to end right now here’s what the updated draft order would look like.

  1.  Tennessee Titans
  2. Cleveland Browns
  3. Baltimore Ravens
  4. San Diego Chargers
  5. Dallas Cowboys
  6. San Francisco 49ers
  7. Detroit Lions
  8. Miami Dolphins
  9. Jacksonville Jaguars
  10. Chicago Bears
  11. New Orleans Saints
  12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  13. New York Giants
  14. Oakland Raiders
  15. Philadelphia Eagles
  16. Buffalo Bills
  17. Indianapolis Colts
  18. St. Louis Rams
  19. Atlanta Falcons
  20. New York Jets
  21. Minnesota Vikings
  22. Seattle Seahawks
  23. Kansas City Chiefs
  24. Pittsburgh Steelers
  25. Washington Redskins
  26. Houston Texans
  27. Green Bay Packers
  28. Denver Broncos
  29. Cincinnati Bengals
  30. Arizona Cardinals
  31. Carolina Panthers

With Detroit and New Orleans playing each other in what’s sure to be another Gruden Grinder special on Monday Night Football, the top end of the draft will move around a bit.
