Rudy Gay came up just a bit short on alley-oop (Video)
Rudy Gay needed to soar just a little further to finish off this alley-oop
The Sacramento Kings have been one of the more befuddling teams in the NBA to start the 2015-16 NBA season. They have played tremendously at times and horribly at others. Despite this inconsistency, though, the play of forward Rudy Gay has been impressive. Of course, he embraced his inner Kings and made a horribly embarrassing play on Monday night against the Washington Wizards.
Gay took off on a cut towards the rim and was met with a beautiful pass that he went up to grab. It looked as if the veteran forward was about to throw down just a vicious one-handed alley-oop, but he actually needed just a bit more distance on his jump for that to have been possible. Instead, he whiffed horribly on the dunk and just threw the ball off the rim:
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul, Rudy Gay.
There have certainly been better alley-oops throughout the NBA this season and even from Gay over the course of his career. You can almost surely bet, though, that Gay will have a little more bounce the next time he goes up to catch a lob—he’ll want to avoid this kind of embarrassment ever happening again.
